Check out our list of Lives on technology, innovation, retail, entrepreneurship, and other topics relevant to this moment of crisis.
Lives have always been a popular format, used most often in the gaming and sports segments. Since the start of the quarantine in Brazil, this format has boomed and won over social media users.
But why have Lives become so relevant in the middle of the pandemic? According to a study by Think With Google, the change in behavior of Brazilians on YouTube during the lockdown reinforces the platform as a safe space with the potential to multiply conversations to overcome the adversities of the pandemic.
“Since March, the platform has shown the first signs of people’s new behaviors and demands. One example: searches related to the term ‘at home’ grew 123% in Brazil compared to the period before the quarantine. Videos related to mental health, news channels with live content, and discussions about the local and global economy have been gaining more and more traction.”
A search on Google Trends reveals that searches for the terms “live,” “today’s live,” and “live of the week” began to grow exponentially in early April, reaching peak interest between April 19 and 25.

The Think With Google study also shows that around 40% of the Brazilian audience said they had spent more than 3 hours a day on YouTube since the lockdown began. The study also mapped three areas of growth in content supply and/or demand in the context of the lockdown:
- Finding a balance between information and mental health;
- Adapting or creating a routine for the lockdown;
- Understanding the broader impacts on society.
With the spread of the coronavirus and the lockdown, people began looking for forms of entertainment and mental health support at home. This scenario led to a rise in Lives with artists, in some cases breaking audience records. Meanwhile, educational Lives began to emerge, covering topics such as financial markets, entrepreneurship, careers, innovation, and digital transformation, featuring renowned experts and professionals.
Over the last two months, Lives have become so frequent, and on so many platforms, that we decided to put together a selection of the best content on technology, innovation, and the market. Check it out:
